POLICY
Fundamental Principles

I will consciously include all seven of the fundamental principles equally during my first teaching block.
When creating lesson plans and brainstorming assignments I will (separate from the Brock lesson plan) make sure I have addressed the seven principles by asking associated questions of my plans (eg. Is it fair, transparent and equitable to all students?)

POLICY
Learning Skills & Work Habits

I will appropriately separate learning skills and work habits from student achievement when assessing students.
I will ensure I am including variety in my tasks and activities that address all of the learning skills and work habits equally alongside my assessment tasks for assessing student achievement.

POLICY
Performance Standards: The Achievement Chart
I will learn to properly identify the associated verbs for each section of the achievement chart (as shown in the specific expectations) and include each section equally throughout my unit plans and assessment tasks.
I will create a chart that includes the 4 aspects of the achievement chart and their associated verbs for my own use when writing assessments and creating assessment tools. I will reference the Ontario Curriculum documents to ensure I am including all aspects of the achievement chart.

POLICY
Assessment FOR Learning & AS Learning
I will learn to clearly define and identify the ins and outs of assessment for and assessment as learning. I will consistently be able to place my assessment tasks under their appropriate categories.
I will find resources that break down the aspects of each type of assessment to help clarify the identifying factors that classify individual assignments under each type of assessment.

POLICY
Evaluation

I will ensure evaluation criteria is available to the students and is both understandable and attainable.
I will thoroughly teach and review all aspects of a topic before evaluating my students. I will use student friendly language when explaining success criteria.

POLICY
Reporting Student Achievement
I will provide clear and reflective assessment reports for all of my students.
I will keep a running log on everything each of   my students has been evaluated on so I can track progression, strengths and weaknesses and therefore provide accurate reports on student achievement.

POLICY
Students With Special Education Needs
Through collaboration and teamwork with the   school team, my principal, parents and individual students I will ensure IEP’s and education plans appropriately reflect the accommodations and modifications required for all students with special needs.
I will promote a safe environment within my classroom to ensure all individuals are an integral part of the community.
I will have consistent check-ins with all parties   involved and will constantly self-reflect to ensure all of my teaching practices and strategies suit the needs of the individual.
I will demonstrate absolute respect to my students and facilitate the creation of a respectful community in my classroom.

POLICY
English Language Learners

I will understand the exact needs of English Language Learners with more of a thorough understanding.
I will read peer-reviewed articles and Ontario documents on how best to support ELL students within the classroom. I will use the support of ELL specialized teachers within the schools I am working to create successful strategies for the ELL students in my class.
